Jordan Thakar

Hey, my name is Jordan (he/him) and I am an undergraduate student in environmental sciences at the University of Guelph! My research interests include environmental chemistry and microbiology in the context of our rapidly changing climate, particularly in extreme and/or nutrient-limited environments such as bogs and the atmosphere. In this research group I am currently working on developing methodology for the accurate detection of activity in atmospheric microbes. I am also honoured to hold the University of Guelph President’s 2020 scholarship.

Besides research, I am a board member for the Water Watchers, working to establish and strengthen water justice campaigns across Ontario. I am also a member of Decolonial Solidarity Guelph, a group focused on advocating for Indigenous land defender rights from an environmental and social perspective.

Aside from research and advocacy work, I love muay thai, biking, running, and cooking!
